As a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist - Job Placement Coordinator, with Families Forward, you play a crucial role in helping program participants reach their goals and succeed in their careers.
You build trust and rapport with each participant, making them feel comfortable and valued from the start.
Through comprehensive intakes, you explore their needs, strengths, interests, aptitudes, experience, and capabilities, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and identify the right career path.
Your partnership with each participant leads to the development of a Family Contract Amendment (FCA), which outlines their short-term and long-term employment and other goals.
With your guidance, participants feel empowered and confident in their ability to achieve success.
You meet with participants on your caseload regularly, document progress toward their goals, and provide ongoing orientation to ensure they're clear on their TANF and program requirements.
Your communication skills come in handy as you secure releases and build effective communication with your participant's medical, behavioral health, and other providers.
You may even work with a targeted caseload, such as two-parent families or individuals enrolled in higher education.
Your talent for record-keeping is also utilized, as you document all communication and contact with participants and external partners in FedcapCARES.
As an employment specialist with our human services nonprofit, you make requests for needed support services such as childcare, transportation, educational services, and others to the Office of Family Independence (OFI) Support Services Unit to assist participants in achieving their FCA requirements.
You uphold all agency policies and expectations in performing your job and run reports in FedcapCARES, using data to plan your daily and weekly tasks.
You also contact and reschedule participants who miss appointments with you, ensuring everyone stays on track.
As a member of our job placement team, you represent Fedcap with all stakeholders and in the community in a positive and professional manner.
