60/Annually The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Division of Quality Assurance and Regulations is recruiting to fill one position of Consumer Protection Inspector - (DAIRY PROGRAM) In Central Maine.
BRIEF
Job Description:
This is investigative and protective services work in inspecting dairy farms, dairy processing plants, wholesale ice cream plants, raw milk dealers, plastic blow-mold operations, bulk milk transport companies including drivers and hauling equipment, and related operations to determine compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations to protect public health and maintain a safe secure food supply.
Knowledge of applicable sampling, testing methods, procedures and techniques to provide laboratory back up.
Work is performed under limited supervision.
Inspectors must have the ability to read, understand and apply regulatory standards.
Good written and oral communication skills are necessary.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Four (4) years of education, training, and/or experience in the field of microbiology, agricultural science, or food science.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Must be willing to attend out-of-state training.
Must successfully complete all training with a passing grade or Certification.
Must be willing to work a schedule that may include holidays and scheduled days off as necessary.
Must be willing to perform relief inspections statewide.
A valid driver's license is required.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
(These must be met by all employees after hire but prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Federal (FDA) certification required.
