Summary:
The Activities Aide is responsible for providing meaningful activities to the residents and assists the Activities Supervisor and Activities Assistant in maintaining the activity department functions and a steady flow of activities which are designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident to the greatest extent possible.
Essential Job Functions and Activities:
Meets and interviews new residents to determine the resident's needs and interests.
Provides support to residents and family members through the admission process and throughout their stay.
Completes all department documentation and postings as assigned by the Activities Supervisor in accordance with regulation and MVH policy and procedure.
Writes progress notes at least quarterly for those residents with problems identified on the Plan of Care in which the Activities Department is involved.
Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team, review and revision of the Plan of Care at least quarterly.
Sets up room and equipment for activities and cleans up following the activities.
Transports and/or arranges for transportation of residents to activities.
Observes resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement so that facility activities and resident progress are evaluated by noting, reporting, and charting resident behavior.
Offers and conducts individual and group activities during both day and evening hours, based on the comprehensive assessment of each resident's needs and interests as assigned by the Activities Supervisor.
Activities include inside and outside areas and may include planned community activities.
Offers residents who are unable or who choose not to leave their rooms to participate in individual activities.
Makes activities suggestions for the monthly calendar of planned activities.
Follows the Plan of Care in providing activities for the resident.
Befriends residents to encourage resident self-esteem by visiting and conversing with them on a regular basis.
Assists in the orientation and training of new activities staff and volunteers as assigned.
Uses activity supplies in an efficient manner to avoid waste.
Assesses activities equipment and supply needs and makes recommendations to the Activities Supervisor.
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Activities Supervisor.
Experience and SkillsEssential Skills and Knowledge for the Job:
Must be able to direct small and large group activities, including directing volunteers in the provision of quality services to the residents.
Must be able to understand federal/state laws/regulations relative to long-term care activity programs and professional resident activities practice with emphasis in the areas of gerontology activities.
Must possess interest in activities and working with geriatric individuals.
Education / Training /
Experience:
Certificate of Completion of State approved patient activities coordinator program preferred.
An interest in activities and working with geriatric individuals a must; geriatric activities experience preferred; nursing home experience preferred.
CNA certificate helpful.
Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver's license.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
